Japan’s Energy-Saving Technology Gets Spotlight at Kazakh Exposition

ASTANA (Jiji Press) — At the ongoing 2017 World Exposition in the Kazakh capital of Astana, based on a theme of “future energy,” Japan is showcasing its cutting-edge energy-saving and other technologies as “the greatest resource” and “pride” of the resource-poor country.
In April, the government filed a candidacy for Osaka to host the 2025 World Exposition. The Japan pavilion at the Astana expo highlights the bid by Osaka as well, aiming to attract support for it. The pavilion presents a mix of “conventional energy,” “renewable energy” and “energy of the future.”
“According to media reports, the Japan pavilion ranked in the top 10 for number of visitors,” an official at the Japan pavilion said. This popularity may reflect explanatory programs in the Kazakh language that the pavilion offers to visitors, the official added.
Anna Plekhova, a 16-year-old local high school student studying Japanese who visited the pavilion, said she now wants to go to Japan more than ever. She added that she wants technologies like the ones displayed at the pavilion in Kazakhstan … (read more)
